Pizza, the Best Food in the World
The original food called pizza was made in 997 AD in Gaeta, Italy. You can now find pizza all around the world. There are many different types of pizza. The original styles are Neapolitan and Sicilian. When it became popular in the United States, new types were created: New York-style, Chicago deep dish, and Gourmet, also known as California-style pizza.
This is how I would describe pizza to someone from a different planet. There are three basic parts to pizza: the dough, the sauce, and the toppings. The dough is made with flour which is a powder of finely ground grain, water, oil, salt, sugar, and yeast, a microorganism. You combine them and knead them until they make a soft, stretchy material, and then you roll it into a thin, flat circle. The sauce is usually made from cooked tomatoes (a red vegetable) and dried plants like oregano, basil, and garlic. You spread the sauce on the flat dough. Finally, you add the toppings. Cheese is the main topping. It would take an entire paper to tell you what it’s made of, but it is white and shred into small, thin strips. You spread it all over the sauce. On top of that you can put any type of chopped or sliced fruit or vegetable or cooked meat. All of this is baked in a very hot oven (which is an insulated machine) for 8 minutes. The result is a hot, chewy, and delicious PIZZA! There is nothing else like it in the solar system.
The best place to get pizza is Papa's in Florence, CO. My family owns this restaurant and our chefs make wonderful pizza.
